Hi!
Today has just not been a great day for me. I've been trying to distract myself like all day. I watched the Vampire Diaries this morning, took a very long shower, ate lunch, screwed around on facebook, and finally settled on doing my makeup to pass the time. I saw a look earlier that I kind of liked on Pinterest. It was wedding makeup, and I really liked the contrast between dark and light. So today, I decided to do something kind of like that but without quite a stark contrast between dark outer corners and light lids. So here you have it:
On my entire lid: Champagne from the Lorac Pro Palette by Lorac
On the middle of my lid: Chopper from the Naked 2 Palette by Urban Decay
Blended into my crease and up toward my browbone: Sable from the Lorac Pro Palette
On my outer corners and smudged underneath my eyes: Espresso from the Lorac Pro Palette
On my waterline: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in Zero, which I got with my Oz Palette in Theodora.
Then I just used some black mascara and did my normal face contouring routine (see my other posts)
I was hoping to have a fun day today, but it seems as if I'm not, so I'm just gonna go to my little brother's baseball game. Which kind of sucks. But I guess that's okay. I'll just do something fun another day.
There you have it. I hope you like this look. What do you do to distract yourself when you're having a bad day?

Hippie Headbands and Rosy Cheeks
Ohai!
So today I woke up and wanted a super easy summer look. My boyfriend and I might go swimming today so I wanted something that looked kind of easy and natural. So I went simple on the eyes and made my cheeks look kind of flushed for summertime. I don't tan, I just freckle, so in the summer, I like to contour or do rosy cheeks sometimes to give the illusion of getting some sun.
And without further ado:
After I was done, I decided I wanted to try out my new bandana headband thing, which I recently got from Pac Sun for like 4 bucks.
My brother told me I looked like a hippie, and my dad told me I look silly. But that's fine, because I like it. I also put on my big Ray Ban glasses after this which subjected me to even more teasing. But I think it's CUTE.
So anyway, did my usual face routine, using Philisophy Hope in a Jar Moisturizer with SPF 25 as a base, contouring with Smashbox Bronze Lights Brozeur in Suntan Matte, and highlighting with Clinique Uplighting Liquid Illuminator in Natural. Then, I used Clinique Soft Pressed Powder Blusher in Plum Bronze on my cheeks.
I primed my eyes with Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer, and then swept UD's Sin all over my lids. Sin is one of my all time favorite eyeshadows. I'm actually terrified of hitting pan in my Naked Palette. Anyway, then I blended Toasted, also from the Naked Palette, into my crease, and blended West from the Theodora Oz Palette in my outer corner. I also smudged West under my bottom lashline. Then I finished up with Loreal Paris Extra Volume Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black, and used Virgin from the Naked Palette as a highlight in my inner corners and my browbone.
So, that's my look today. What do you think of "hippie" headbands? What shadow are you terrified of hitting pan on? Let me know in the comments!

Bright Eyes
Hi!
This week has been crazy. I started my new internship, I've been babysitting like crazy, my friend Lauren got home from Hawaii, and I took the ACT. Long story short, I haven't been home much and my makeup has been far too boring to post. But maybe I'll start posting normal day looks anyway.
Today though, I did a look that is one of my absolute favorites. I've always loved double wings, I think they look amazing. I'm also a huge sucker for bright pops of color.
I could not take a good picture to save my life this morning. But that's okay.
One thing I think is funny about double wings is when people look at you normally and then they have to do a double take and are like "How did you DO that??"
So, if you are one of those people, here's how:
First, I primed my eyes with Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer. Then I applied Naked by Urban Decay all over my lid, and blended Buck by Urban Decay into my crease (both can be found in the Naked Palette). I used Virgin, also from the Naked Palette, as a highlight in my inner corners and browbone. Then I drew a thick line with Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner in Turquoise, starting from the middle of my eye and going out toward my temples, then filling in my inner corners. Then, I drew a thin line in the same place with Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Perversion. I finished up by curling my eyelashes and used Loreal Paris Extra Volume Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black.
On my face, I used my New Philosophy Hope in a Jar Moisturizer with SPF 25. I really love this moisturizer, it's not too heavy and it feels refreshing. It's also made my skin super soft, and I would really recommend it if you want a good summer moisturizer with SPF. Then I used some powder just to even out my skin tone a little (just some Covergirl stuff I've had forever). Then I used Clinique Soft Pressed Powder Blusher in Rhubarb, Clinique Up-Lighting Liquid Illuminator in Natural, and Smashbox Bronze Lights Brozeur in Suntan Matte. Bronzeur is what it's actually called. Oh, you fancy Smashbox.
Also, I wanted to show off my new nail polish. My grandma sent this to me and it was a nice surprise!
Sorry about the picture quality. This is OPI's Man With the Golden Gun from the James Bond Collection. Yes, this is the nailpolish that has REAL gold in it. My nails have REAL gold on them. I wanted to do it with a white polish, but I couldn't find it, so I used it with Sephora's Mermaid Tail. It looks pretty good with that too. Definitely my new favorite nail polish (to be used sparingly because REAL ASS GOLD).
So there's my look of the day. I hope you're having an amazing day if you're reading this! What's your favorite look with a bright pop? What do you think of a nailpolish with real gold in it?

Golden Summer
Oh hey!
So I've been kinda MIA the past few days because I've had a pretty hectic week. Just been doing a bunch of stuff. I believe that the look I'm going to show you is from Sunday. I went and saw the Great Gatsby with my boyfriend that day and also went night swimming with friends and stuff. Then on Monday I volunteered at the Bolder Boulder (a 5k that's big in Colorado) with my friends and hung out with my Nik (my boyfriend) again. On Tuesday I hung out with Nik YET AGAIN and on Wednesday I went shopping with my mom and I got an internship! I'll be working for a local radio station. Yesterday I also hung out with Nik. Apparently Nik and I are basically joined at the hip this summer or something. Which I love, because I love spending time with him.
My best friend is out of town and honestly at the beginning of summer I hate hanging out with people anyway. So it's been nice that I have Nik to do nothing with and spend all these summer days with, especially since he's going off to college in a couple months.
Anyway, onto makeup. I've been really into gold these past few weeks, and I feel like it's a good look for summer.
Nik told me that this look makes me look like a "sexy vampire Cleopatra". I'll take that.
To achieve this golden summer look, I used Urban Decay's Half Baked from the Naked Palette. I used Gold from the Lorac Pro Palette in my crease, and then used Smog from UD's Naked Palette in my outer corner. As a highlight, I usually use Clinique Sugar Sugar, a shimmery white, but lately I've been using White from the Lorac Pro Palette. It's just a matte white that has a hint of glitter, and it's incredibly pigmented. Also I'm wearing Sephora eyeliner in Bronze (I think) under my eyes. On my face, I used Clinique Up-Lighting Liquid Illuminator in Natural, and Clinique Soft Pressed Powder Blusher in Rhubarb. I also used Raspberry Sorbet lip gloss by Philosophy.
I've been kind of unofficially comparing and contrasting the Naked Palette with the Lorac Pro Palette (which I know is kind of a trend among beauty gurus). I love them both. I like the various kinds of glitter found in the Naked Palette, but I find that Lorac shadows are more pigmented and easier to apply. I also like the matte shades in the Lorac Pro.
I think there are advantages to both palettes, but I am in love with my Lorac palette currently. Of course, the Naked Palette is basically what got me into makeup, so I'll never write it off and it will always be one of my favorites. The Naked Palette and Rachel Whitehurst, that is.
I'm going out to Indian with my family for lunch today, and then I have to babysit. I'm excited because I'll have the whole house to myself tonight, so I'm gonna watch some Netflix and probably not wear pants or something. My life is exciting, I know.

Summer Brights: Wings With a Twist
Ohai!
So every summer, I always face the same dumb makeup problem. Winged eyeliner is my thing, but I always think it's a little too heavy and dark for summer. So, I've learned that I can still wear it sometimes, but in the summer, I like to offset it with brights. I don't like wings all the time in the summer like I do during every other season, but I like wearing it for nights out or stuff like that. A few of my favorite brights are pictured here:

I decided today that I wanted to use Ransom to create a look still using black liquid eyeliner. I did this out of boredom, so I really look like I just rolled out of bed because well basically I did.
This is basically just a step by step explaining what I did to achieve this look, so here ya go.
I used the trial size eyeliner that came with my Lorac Pro palette. I just got it for my birthday and I am so excited to create all sorts of looks with this palette.
For my eyeshadow, I wanted to keep it really simple. I chose to use matte eyeshadow in really neutral shades. So of course I went straight for my UD Naked Palette and chose Naked and Buck.
I put Naked on my lid and blended Buck into my crease.
I have a little mark in the corner of my eye. It's not cause I suck at makeup I promise. I was watching Netflix on my iPhone the other night and I kind of dropped my iPhone on my face. Much less embarrassing than being bad at makeup.
As I previously mentioned, I just got over a rough case of pinkeye. I had to throw out my BRAND NEW UD liquid liner. I really didn't feel like going to Sephora and shelling out ANOTHER 20 bucks for ANOTHER brand new liner. So I went to King Soopers and bought some drugstore mascara and liquid eyeliner. I settled on Line Stiletto by Maybelline for my new liquid eyeliner.
With all due respect to Maybelline, this eyeliner kind of sucks. The tip, as pictured, is felt or something, and it's cut really raggedy. Since it's so ragged, it makes the eyeliner kind of hard to apply in a straight line. The formula of this eyeliner is also really runny, so that also makes the liner just overall kind of not my favorite. But I'll have to make due until I get my lazy ass to Sephora to buy some new UD liner.
It took me a while to get the Maybelline eyeliner to comply with me, but once I got it down I think it turned out okay. Not my best wings, but that's okay.
I then applied Ransom underneath my bottom lashline with an eyeliner brush. I connected it to my wings and smudged it a little to tone it down.
Sorry I didn't get a better picture of this but my camera just would not focus.
To finish, I put White from my Lorac Pro Palette in my inner corners and on my browbone as a highlight and curled my lashes and put on my new mascara, Loreal Paris Extra Volume Waterproof Mascara in Blackest Black.
On a side note, why do drugstore mascara brands feel the need to name their shit things like "Black" "Blacker Black" and "Blackest Black"? What makes one black more black than another black? I can honestly say I cannot see a difference between any of them. This isn't 50 Shades of Gray, people. Black is black.
I can happily say that this Loreal mascara worked out a lot better for me than my new eyeliner. It had a few clumps, but the formula was pretty nice and it made my eyelashes look pretty damn thick and long. Even though it should probably just be called "Black".
Aaaand here's the finished product:
I was pretty happy with this look! I think it would be good for a night out or a fancier occasion. I'll probably continue to do looks using brights, because there really are a ton of different ways to wear brights.
So far my summer has been pretty good! I had a fun day on Thursday with my friends. Yesterday I helped my mom move classrooms (she's a teacher) and I also visited my boyfriend at work. Today is just gonna be a lazy day. I plan on marathoning the Vampire Diaries on Netflix for the next 8 hours or so. Judge me.
Does anyone know any good liquid eyeliner (preferably waterproof) that doesn't break the bank? Any look suggestions that you want me to try? What are your plans for the summer? Comment below!
My iMovie is currently not working. Once it starts to work again, I'm going to continue putting videos up on YouTube.
I hope you have a fantastic day!

First Post and First Day of Summer
Oh hey!
So this is my first post and I feel kind of weird about it because how even do you blog. I was able to do my makeup today for the first time in a WEEK because I had pinkeye that lasted 6 whole days. It was actually the worst. I had to throw away my new Urban Decay liquid eyeliner (and that shit's 20 bucks so I was kinda pissed) as well as some Smashbox mascara. I cleaned off my eyeshadow and cleaned my brushes so I'm okay on those.
So today for my first day wearing makeup again, I decided to do something simple and avoid eyeliner just in case. So this is just kind of an every day brown look, sans eyeliner. Which is sad because I wear winged eyeliner every day and I hate not wearing it.
The close ups turned out not fantastic but we're just gonna ignore that.
I look like I should be in Les Miserables in this picture because damn dat stare.
And this is the completely finished look complete with the rest of my face done as well.
I used my Urban Decay Oz palette in Theodora pretty much exclusively for this look. I was kind of lazy and didn't feel like breaking out another palette.
I used these two colors on my lid and crease. I don't know what they're called because I don't think UD named them but hey I could be wrong. I used the warm tan color on my lid and blended it with the darker taupe in my crease.
I used this warm maroon-ish brown in my outer corner.
Aaaaand I used this color as a highlight. It's totally not a highlight color. I don't know what I was doing. Buuuut, like I said, I was feeling a little lazy.
It's my first official day of summer and for some reason I felt it was a good idea to wake up OBSCENELY early. I had to drive my brother to school at 9 but I was like hey it would probably be a good idea to wake up at 7:30. Which was weird because I am so not a morning person. But I was excited to do my makeup and also put on this outfit:
I was so excited to wear this and I don't even know why. The skirt's from Forever 21, the shirt's from American Eagle, and I think that necklace is from Tilly's. I felt like it was really summery, and then I looked outside and it's all rainy and gloomy but I don't care I'm wearing it anyway.
Also, as I was driving I remembered my nails:
I did these a few days ago. I don't usually paint them pink but I was feelin antsy. SO this is OPI Charged Up Cherry (my boyfriend got it for me a while ago) and some glitter shit on my ring finger.
Today I'm planning on hanging out with my friend Lauren after she's done with her last final. We're gonna visit our friend David who just finished his freshman year of college, and we haven't seen him in a while so that should be fun. Then we're planning on going to a picnic barbecue whatever thing and then going to dinner and stuff with my friend Kendall. So it should be a good first day of summer.
If only the sun would come out.
